There's only so much you can learn watching other people talk about property on Instagram. At some point you need the actual system, the actual numbers, and people who've actually done it. Over two days we'll take you through how Australians are funding, finding and securing New Zealand property, deal by deal, and then show you how to do the same.

Property investing's biggest hurdles for Aussies and Kiwi expats

  • Priced out at home. A $200K+ deposit and stamp duty before you've even started, and the numbers still don't stack up.
  • Negatively geared and going backwards. Topping up the rent every month and hoping growth bails you out.
  • Land tax, stamp duty, capital gains. Every AU state seems to find a new way to take a slice.
  • Curious about NZ but no idea where to start. Can I even buy there? How does the tax work? Who do I trust on the ground?
  • Too much theory, not enough action. Podcasts, books, webinars. Still no deal.

If any of this sounds familiar, this masterclass was built for you.

Here's how we'll help

  • Step-by-step live training on how Australians fund, find and secure NZ property.
  • The AU vs NZ tax and structure session with an accountant who invests herself.
  • Real deals, real numbers from members, including six units bought in one line.
  • Remote deal system: how to inspect, analyse and negotiate from Australia.
  • Live Q&A both days in a Zoom Meeting, not a faceless webinar.
  • Walk away with a plan you can act on Monday morning.

This isn't another seminar. It's a working masterclass where you should leave with a strategy, a shortlist of areas and the buying rules that protect every deal.

Why Australians are looking across the Tasman

The market next door plays by different rules

You're allowed to buy there. The tax settings favour buy and hold investors. Cashflow-positive deals still exist in the right pockets. And your Aussie dollar goes further.

$0

No stamp duty on residential property purchases in NZ.

$0

No land tax. NZ has no annual land tax on residential property.

No CGT

No general capital gains tax on property held long term. Short-hold "bright-line" rules apply and we'll walk through them.

You can buy

Australian citizens are exempt from NZ's foreign-buyer restrictions on residential property.

~20%

FX tailwind. Deploying AUD into NZD currently gives you about 20% more buying power.

Cashflow

Better yields in the right regions, and a system to find them without flying over every weekend.

General information only, current at the time of publishing. Wealth Mentor is a financial education company, not a financial or tax adviser, and nothing on this page is personal advice. Tax outcomes depend on your circumstances, entity and structure. That's exactly why we've put an accountant on the panel.

Proof it works

Real deals from real members

These aren't hypotheticals. Every one of these people was once sitting where you are.

Buy and hold · Six units, one purchase

Tim, six units in one line

Bought six units as a single line and held them for cashflow, managed by an NZ team assembled once and reused on every deal since. Now $55K a year cashflow positive with $710K of equity created. He'll break the numbers down live.

DAY 1 · SATURDAY

Fund + Find

Set up your finance, then find the right deals

Live breakdown: Tim walks through his six-unit deal, including how the remote inspection and management actually ran.

  • How Australians fund NZ property: what banks and brokers on both sides of the Tasman actually look for, and how to work out your real buying power.
  • Picking your strategy: buy and hold, value add or both, and what fits your numbers.
  • Where we are in the property cycle on each side of the ditch, and why the timing matters right now.
  • The buying rules that protect every deal.
  • Choosing your area with data, not opinions, then using the GOFIND Method to filter the best properties.
  • Running deals through the 4 Levels of Analysis so the numbers stack before you make an offer.
DAY 2 · SUNDAY

Secure + Scale

Make offers, negotiate, complete due diligence from Australia, get your tax and structure right, then build the portfolio

Special guest session: Helen Yu, property investor and accountant, on NZ tax treatment and how to structure as an Australian buying in NZ.

  • The NZ Sale and Purchase Agreement clause by clause, so you know exactly what you're signing.
  • Negotiation strategies that work when you're not in the room.
  • Remote due diligence: builders, property managers, valuers and lawyers, and how to run them from Australia.
  • Renovation and value-add plans for maximum return, managed cross-border.
  • AU vs NZ side by side: stamp duty, land tax, capital gains, interest deductibility, and how to structure as an Australian buying in NZ.
  • How to make every property fund the next one: equity, cashflow and the scaling roadmap.
  • Open Q&A.

Is this for you?

Cashing In On NZ is for three types of Australians

You haven't started yet

You've been thinking about property but the Australian numbers never quite worked. You want to see real deals, real yields and real people before you commit a dollar.

You own property already

You've got a home or a rental in Australia with equity sitting there doing nothing. You want to learn how to make every property fund the next one, and whether NZ is the smarter next step.

You tried and got burned

Overpriced off-the-plan apartment, negatively geared, or a costly mistake. You want a proven system and a market that works in your favour before your next move.

Our promise to you

We respect your weekend. If you attend both days and don't walk away with real, actionable strategies you can put to work immediately, we haven't done our job. That's why we pack more into these two days than most people get out of a full year of podcasts, and why we run it live, cameras on, questions welcome.

Questions

Covered.

Can Australians actually buy property in New Zealand?

Yes. Australian citizens can buy residential property in New Zealand without needing Overseas Investment Office consent. We'll cover the practical steps (bank accounts, IRD numbers, lawyers, structures) over the weekend.

Do I need any property experience?

No. The weekend is built for Aussies and Kiwi expats living in Australia, from complete beginner through to experienced investors who want to understand the NZ market properly before they buy. Real examples make everything accessible wherever you're starting from.

Are you going to try and sell me a property?

No. Wealth Mentor doesn't sell properties and has never taken developer commissions or success fees. We teach you how to find, fund and secure your own deals.

Can I bring my partner?

Yes, and we encourage it. If you live in the same household, one Standard ticket is fine to watch together on the one screen. If your partner wants their own login and workbook, or is joining from somewhere else, the VIP ticket includes a second seat and works out cheaper than two Standard tickets.

Will it be recorded?

Recordings are included with the VIP ticket and are sent out after the event. Standard ticket holders attend live only.

What if I can't make one of the days?

The two days build on each other, so plan to attend both live. If you know you'll miss a session, VIP is the ticket for you because you'll have the recordings.

What happens after the weekend?

You'll leave with a strategy, a shortlist and the buying rules, plus access to the Wealth Mentor Academy to keep learning. During the weekend we'll also explain how our longer programs work for those who want 1:1 support. There's no obligation and no hard sell.

Is the ticket tax deductible?

For some Australian investors, education related to producing investment income can be deductible. That depends entirely on your circumstances, so check with your accountant. We don't give personal tax advice.

What's the refund and transfer policy?

All tickets are non-refundable and dates are fixed, so please check your calendar before you book. If you can't attend, your ticket is forfeited. If you tell us in writing at least 14 days before the event, we may be able to transfer your ticket to another person, at our discretion.

Australian investors & New Zealand property, 2026

The 2026 rules for Australians buying property in New Zealand

Australia's 2026 Budget changed the maths at home. New Zealand's rules didn't move. Here's what's actually true, and what we unpack with real numbers over the two days.

Can Australians buy property in New Zealand?

Yes, if you're an Australian citizen: no Overseas Investment Office approval, no visa and no NZ residency needed. Australian permanent residents are the exception, they generally can't buy from Australia unless they move to New Zealand first. This weekend is built for Australian citizens and Kiwi expats.

Does New Zealand have capital gains tax on property?

There's no general capital gains tax in New Zealand, and for buy and hold investors the main rule is the 2 year bright-line test. But NZ tax is intention based, and buying to hold, to flip or to develop are treated differently from day one. Getting that right at purchase is one of the most valuable things we cover.

Is there negative gearing in New Zealand?

Not the way Australia knew it. NZ ring fences rental losses to your property portfolio rather than your salary, and full interest deductibility on investment property has been restored. How it all nets out for an Australian based investor is one of the big aha moments of the weekend.

How do you buy a house in NZ from Australia?

The process runs end to end without you living there: borrowing position first with lenders who handle trans-Tasman finance, then sourcing and verifying the deal remotely, then due diligence and settlement through your NZ power team. That exact system, FUND, FIND, SECURE and SCALE, is what we teach live.

General information only, current as at August 2026, not tax, legal or financial advice.
